And we are finally expecting a little one! My husband, Hal and I have enjoyed many incredible moments together in our eight years of marriage and are now looking forward to becoming a family of three. My pregnancy came as quite a SURPRISE as we have been hoping to welcome a child into our home for almost four years and after that long it’s just difficult to believe it could actually happen. I’m so thankful that Hal and I are Christians and that we both wholeheartedly believe that the Lord’s timing is better than our own although it’s not always easy to see. Our baby’s estimated due date is November 30.
Back in April, I surprised Hal one morning with a “Bun in the Oven” and a special Daddy gift. Somehow I managed to hide my all day “morning” sickness well and he was completly shocked. It was quite the morning full of ”Is this for real?” and “Are you sure?” followed by “Now what?” We waited until the end of my first trimester and after our first ultrasound to tell our family and friends.
We had such a great time telling our families. My Mom has always wanted 12 grandchildren (one for each month of the year) and our baby will be number 8 so our friend, Erin, of Erin’s Baked Goods, made this cake for us. I was so nervous when we brought the cake out that I could hardly speak. I just knew I was going to cry but I held it together pretty well. We delivered flowers and cards to Hal’s family. Hal’s brother, Eric and his wife, Brooke are expecting a baby girl this summer so our baby will have a cousin pretty close in age. Hal and I both thoroughly enjoyed taking these pink and blue baby cupcakes to a picnic with our small group from church. They have been truly supportive of us in the past few years as we struggled with not having children which isn’t an easy thing to do. When each person looked closely at the cupcakes, realized who brought them, and put it all together-the reactions were Priceless!
I am so thankful for a supportive husband and a great group of friends who have helped me get through a challenging (details shall be omitted) start to my pregnancy. It’s easier to take it in stride when we have wanted this for so long. In comparison, I’m feeling pretty good now and hope to be able to work through September and possibly into October. One of the reasons I started Captured by Sarah Photography was to have a flexible job that would allow me to work and be a stay-at-home Mom, which is exactly what we have planned after the baby’s birth.
We’ve started making plans, rearranging our home, and are looking for to finding out if the baby is a boy or a girl. Hopefully by mid-July we’ll be calling the baby by name!
