I remember several years ago, when Amy and I were teaching together, we were using a Titanic theme to teach researching skills. This theme managed to catch the attention of most middle school students. One item that we pondered, discussed, and researched was the meaning of SOS. (And being a teacher at heart, I’ll let you discover for yourself from the biased yet useful source, Wikipedia.)
However, I now have a new meaning for this famous acronym or may I suggest two meanings: Shades Of Summer or Shades Of Snowflurries. Let me explain. Just when I was starting to feel like I was drowning in my work, a little SOS box arrived at my front door. A lifesaver of sorts, as it was a great, creative distraction. Here are the contents of the box…

The box was sent to me from Jodie in KS, however the fun was started by the creative and talented, scrapbooking great elizabeth kartchner. In June, Elizabeth decided to send these funky frames & a traveling album across the country. Basically the rules are to take a photograph wearing the sunglasses, make a 4×6 page for the album, add your page to the album, and mail it on to the next person on the list. So here is the page that I added…

At the same time the Shades of Summer arrived, we saw snowflurries in our area for the first time this season. Hence, my new definition for SOS: Shades of Snowflurries.
Enjoy, Lesley in IN. The SOS box is on its way to you and my break is over so look out Photoshop here I come.
