Connor. 13 months. {Springfield Children’s Photographer}

I believe accessories can add a special finishing touch to portraits that just pull the look altogether.  Such was the case, when Connor arrived at this session with his little newsie cap.  I absolutely loved it!

I wanted to do something a little different with this post and share a few of the custom wallets that were designed for Connor’s gallery.  Custom wallets are die-cut to give them rounded corners and can be designed with any of your favorites from our sessions.

New Product Feature: Custom wallets

I’m always looking for ways to make my clients’ sessions and photographs more personalized.  After all, that is one of the main perks of custom photography.  Custom wallets are a wonderful addition to the products already offered by Captured by Sarah and they are great fun to design.  I think any parent or grandparent would be proud to show off one of these.  Stay tuned to see custom wallets featuring Seniors and used in a few surprising ways.

Erica Pom {Springfield Teen Photographer}

As mentioned in my previous post, I was privileged with the opportunity to photograph a gorgeous family from Tulsa.  It got even better when in planning our session Erica’s mom mentioned that she would like some pom photographs of Erica, who is a sophomore this year.  We then discovered that Erica attends my Alma Matter, Jenks High School, located South of Tulsa.

I absolutely loved my time with Erica and think she is a beautiful young lady.  It felt like one of those “full-circle moments.”  In high school I would never have imagined owning my own photography business yet I found myself remembering the challenges and the rewards of being a student at Jenks High School.

Erica,

I hope you find something that you love to do and live your life passionately.  Your confidence and inner beauty shines through.  Thanks for sharing a few moments with me,

Sarah

Honored by Session with Tulsa Family {Springfield Children’s Photographer}

I can hardly even describe how excited I was when Michelle, the momma of these lovely children, contacted me about a session.  This family lives in Tulsa and she had been following my blog and said she just loved my style.  Needless to say, I felt pretty honored when she arranged for a session, with me, in Springfield.  In addition, her children were small the last time they had a session together.

I was feeling the pressure on the morning of the session and hoping to give this family some wonderful photographs of the siblings together.  It was a chilly morning but these kids were troopers and we had a great time together.  I knew before I left the session that the shots we captured were something this family could cherish for a long time.

Erica, Clayton, and Spencer-thanks for being such great troopers and Michelle-thanks for making me feel so honored.  You have gorgeous children inside and out!

Little Monkey with a Storie

Well, this little monkey happens to be our nephew, Seth withour newest niece, Storie.  A few weeks ago, we had the privilege of meeting Storie for the first time and Seth just celebrated his second birthday so it was the perfect time for a little photo session.

Although, you can already tell that the members of this sibling pair are going to be quite different in personality, they both just make you smile.  Seth is at the age where he likes to be constantly on the go so you have to work to get a good shot of him but I think we succeeded.  And Storie had all kinds of expressions for me from happy, to peaceful, to intense.  We’ve heard she likes to show her independence and appreciates it when her demands are met immediately but she was great for her first photo shoot with Aunt Sarah.

You can imagine all the sibling discussions that are yet to come between these two.  Hopefully, they will be great playmates for each other.

Since this was my first session with Storie, I wanted to share my favorite from the day.  I often find it difficult to choose between black and white or color versions, so today I’m sharing both.  What do you think? B&W or Color.

After our recent 3-D ultrasound, we felt that Emiana may have some similar facial features to Storie.  It will be interesting to compare photos of our sweet daughter, when she makes her appearance in about 8 weeks, with photos of her cousin.

One final note, these photos were taken in the Tulsa area.  If you are located in the Tulsa area please let me know if you would like to arrange a session in the Spring.

Now that Fall has arrived…{Springfield Family Photographer}

I have to share a few photographs from a summer session that I never had a chance to show on the blog.  This Summer I had the opportunity to meet with the 9 grandkids of the W family at the Jordan Valley Fountains for a “beach party” themed session.  Last year around the same time, I met with the family for a “cowboy” themed session.  Since then, a new grandson has joined the gang and the kids have grown so much.  It is great fun to compare photographs of kids from year to year as they grow so fast.

As you can imagine, photographing nine grandchildren together can take a little extra time and patience from everyone involved.  However, these kids are incredible and I thoroughly enjoy my time with them.  So, a special thanks to my child wranglers for the day and I look forward to discussing and planning for next year’s theme.

Strike a Pose!

Recently Taylor celebrated her birthday with quite the party!  We started the evening with pizza and cake, followed by Mary Kay makeovers, and then had some photography fun.  I was smiling and laughing all night and perhaps even reminiscing a little about when I was in the fifth grade.   Starting with the gorgeous birthday girl…

Although I’ll admit I was exhausted when the night was over, it was a blast!  To see all the photos from this fun-filled evening see Taylor’s Party Gallery.  I’d love to hear from you if you’re interested in a makeover event.  The event includes MaryKay makeup instruction and samples, a photography session for each attendee, and a gift certificate for each young lady to choose her favorite photos from the evening.  It would be perfect for a birthday party, Girl Scouts event, or girls church group.

Couldn’t break for Thanksgiving before showcasing Miss L

Little Miss L is going to celebrate her 3rd birthday soon so we met at the park to play.  It was a little chilly and Miss L was determined to be on the go but that didn’t stop us from having fun.  There are more to come but I wanted Amy to have a little peek at her daughter’s adorable photographs.

Miss L loves puppies and you could just see her imagination at work when we discovered this sculpture in the park.

Amy’s parents, Miss L’s grandparents, live out of state so in addition to Birthday and Christmas photographs we also wanted to capture a few moments of this beautiful mother and daughter together.  Hopefully, these will bring a smile to some grandparents’ faces.

And finally for a little Fall fun!

3 Little Men

I have to admit, I’ve always been a little envious of this family.  The boys are just so handsome and ever since they were tiny, they’ve each looked like adorable little men.  Their stylish hair and clothing just make them look so grown up, although I’m sure their mom and dad want to envision them as sweet, little boys as long as possible.

The little guy has recently become somewhat attached to his Momma.  So, it was a little more challenging than expected to capture a photograph of the three boys together.  Hopefully, the images that were captured will make their mom smile (she admitted she usually a little crazy about their pictures).  As with most families with multiple children, each of the boys in this family has their own unique personality and I think we were able capture each one.  And that makes me SMILE!

This last image features a little post-processing, an aged canvas feel.  Although I enjoy a simple artistic style , sometimes I feel the emotion of certain photographs are enhanced by various processing techniques.  And the usual post culimination of late, more to come soon.

Patient Clients and a B Fam of 4 Sneak Peek

This time of year is really two-sided for photographers, business is great but there are very long days and not many spare moments.  So, a special thanks to all my clients who are patiently awaiting their sneak peeks and galleries.  So, the first of many wonderful family sessions yet to come.

This early morning session was sandwiched into the B Family’s busy schedule but it was well worth the effort.  Great job, Kathy on the coordination and coloring of your family’s attire.  And as expected, this session was full of smiles and laughs and I even had a little lesson in tree identification.  It’s amazing how I learn something new at every session.

And finally a few candid shots, which are always my favorites.

Kathy and Gary, thanks for bringing your family out.  Hope the last soccer game of the season was a success.  See all the photographs of this fabulous Fall family session in the B4Family Gallery.
